My grandmother taught me that to save money was important. I was taught to save a nickle, save a dime.
Another Day, Another Dollar, or to be exact, about $ 7,800 a month. That is the pure profit this place makes
from my staying here. And why not? Nursing Homes and Rehabilitation Centers are money makers!
Considering the cost is about $ 7,800, and tab is mostly covered by Medicaid, Medicare, the
Department of Agriculture, and my share is the remaining balance of $ 1,106. Leaving me the tidy sum of
any other expenses $ 70.00 a month of any additional expenses. So no Christmas gifts, no Easter bunny
visits, no vacations, no treats, no special gifts for new babies, or extras for birthdays or even basic clothing.
With this I am expected to pay for any thing extra I need. There are ways to cut the costs
like using the toothpaste here, the mouth wash here, denture tabs, and deodorant. All of which are the
s the least like able to use. Unless the patient is completely without funds. But thanks for big box stores,
things wanted but not provided for like personal wipes like, name brand items of all sorts can be purchased.
All at a considerable cost plus delivery.
That leaves very few things past needs. But there are things always coming up missing. Like 5 pairs of
exercise pants, at least 5 blouses, 10 pairs of new panties, 2 dozen pairs if new socks, 3 dresses, and a
dozen new bras. costing me a couple hundred dollars. I am sitting typing this in a borrowed pair of slacks,
a hand me down blouse, without my compression socks, since the company is out of them. Along with 4
of my five regular medications missing.
And of all this the company makes money by doing drug trials on us. Such an insult. And I am supposed
to be thankful for this! The walls are all lined with certifications and letters of about the importance of the
studies, but never laying claim to any good work created by these doctors.
